An artist re-imagines the upcoming Power Rangers movie costumes, and they actually look amazing.
When the look of the upcoming 2017 version of the Power Rangers were unveiled there were plenty of mixed reactions. Some good, some bad, some indifferent — which is where I fell into place. We knew it’d only be a matter of time before someone took it upon themselves to adapt the original Power Rangers’ look to the big screen in their own way, and that’s what we have here.
These artist renderings clearly look new and modern, but also pay homage to the past. The artist was able to take the organic look the studio was looking for and incorporate it more successfully — personal opinion, of course — than Saban and his crew.
Now, while I’m on the indifferent side of things when it comes to the new look of the Power Rangers, my one issue that I did have with the costumes came from their helmets. There was very little representation of their dino themed powers. So they either don’t utilize the dino theme and their Dinozords as they had originally, or they do and the new costumed just don’t represent that as well as the previous incarnations had.
Enjoy the concept art from artist Carlos Dattoli and let me know what you think. Do you like the original Mighty Morphin Power Rangers The Movie look, the new Power Rangers movie look, or Carlos Dattoli’s vision?
